About Seton

Seton is different by design. Rather than a bedroom suburb, Brookfield Residential planned it as the urban heart of Calgary’s deep south — a district where the region’s biggest anchors live: South Health Campus hospital, the enormous Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton (among the largest in the world), a Cineplex, hotels, offices, and a full retail core. Housing here is predominantly newer condos, townhomes, and laned homes — walkable to work, the gym, and dinner.

That makes Seton the southeast’s best fit for three groups: healthcare and hospital workers who want a five-minute commute, first-time buyers after affordable newer builds, and lock-and-leave downsizers who’d rather walk to amenities than drive to them. A future Green Line LRT terminus is planned for Seton, which would only strengthen the long-term picture.

Housing in Seton

  • Apartment condos — the district’s biggest category: newer buildings at some of the southeast’s most attainable prices.
  • Townhomes & row houses — modern, low-maintenance, and popular with first-timers and downsizers alike.
  • Laned & duplex homes — compact detached options in Seton’s residential blocks.
  • Seton Ridge — the newest phase adding more family and multi-family homes as the district builds out.

Shopping, work & everyday amenities

Everything is the point in Seton. The retail core covers groceries, restaurants, banks, and services; the YMCA brings pools, rinks, a library, and fitness under one enormous roof; the Cineplex handles movie night; and South Health Campus is both the area’s hospital and its biggest employer. Deerfoot and Stoney Trail sit on the district’s edges — downtown is roughly half an hour, the mountains a straight run west.

Parks, recreation & schools

Seton’s recreation centres on the YMCA and the district’s plazas and pathway connections — with the wetlands and lake amenities of neighbouring Auburn Bay, Mahogany, and Cranston’s ridge a few minutes away. Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School is right in the district (a big deal for southeast families), with elementary and middle years served by designated schools in the surrounding communities — and more school sites planned as Seton grows. Catchments are set by address; tell me your target school and I’ll confirm the boundary.
